The City of Kadoma delegation toured our Geo Pomona Waste Management Site, gaining first-hand appreciation of our modern waste management operations and strong environmental stewardship.

The facility tour on Friday was led by our Executive Chairman and CEO, Dr Dilesh Nguwaya, who shared insights into sustainable waste solutions and operational best practices.

During the tour, Mr Willard Mangwengwende, Acting Town Clerk for Kadoma City Council, expressed his impression with the scale, innovation and environmental impact of our project, noting its potential to transform waste management systems across local authorities.

Dr Nguwaya said Geo Pomona was now leading the way in waste management, with stakeholders from across the country and region visiting the site to learn from the company’s model.

“As you are aware, we started this project in 2022, but if you check the transformation, it is a big change. We changed the dumpsite to become a liveable place,” he said.

He added that there is already a Cabinet directive to begin with Harare before rolling out similar initiatives to other cities, signalling growing national support for modern, sustainable waste solutions.

Inspired by the visit, the Kadoma delegation is exploring how to replicate our Geo Pomona model in their municipality and beyond, with discussions pointing towards future partnerships that unite councils and communities in the drive for cleaner streets and a more sustainable Zimbabwe.

As part of our long-term sustainability vision, we are also developing our waste-to-energy plant at Pomona, which will convert municipal solid waste into electricity for the national grid while addressing urban waste challenges.

To date, hundreds of delegations from various sectors of the economy — including local authorities, government institutions, private sector players, academics and environmental groups — have toured our modern facility, widely recognised as the first of its kind in Southern Africa.
