….Transforming waste into recognition
Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd scooped two prestigious wards while our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Chairman was named the Businessman of the Year and Business Leader of the Year at the Zimbabwe Business Awards (ZIBA), recently.
The Zimbabwe Business Awards were held in Harare on Friday night and we won the Company of the Year and Waste Management Environmentally Friendly Organisation of the Year Awards.
The company won two awards while our CEO and Executive Chairman also bagged two coveted gongs.
The ZIBA awards have been running for 12 years and have pledged “to continue celebrating those that are doing the most in their fields and contributing to economic growth in Zimbabwe”.
We have transformed a once smelly dumpsite in Pomona, Harare into a well-maintained plant, which is set to be the first such facility in Zimbabwe to produce electricity from waste.
This is in line with the Government’s Vision 2030 and NDS1 to improve the economy to an Upper Middle Class.
The new Zimbabwe Business Awards come after we won several honours in 2023 in recognition of its sterling work in providing environmentally friendly solutions to waste management.
We scooped the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show 2023 – Best Exhibitor in the Energy Sector Award, ESGNZ’s Sustainability Innovation Champion award by the ESGNZ — 2023 Zimbabwe National ESG & CSR Award, Environmental Impact Project Of The Year Award: Waste Management Trophy.
Mr Nguwaya was named the 2023 Project Focused CEO by the CIPMZ.
In all the honours, Mr Nguwaya believes in hard work, teamwork, diligence, resilience, and the drive to provide solutions.
He is driven by the motto “Where others see a challenge, we see a solution.”
