After a four-day fruitful visit to Ghana, we are making significant progress in negotiating an exciting partnership with Ghana’s biggest waste management firm, Jospong Group of Companies to introduce more innovative ways of managing waste.

Jospong specializes in waste management, particularly public cleansing and residential waste collection, transfer stations, plastic and organic waste recycling, and landfill management.

Our Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman Mr Dilesh Nguwaya and other senior managers were in the West African country last week to share notes with Jospong’s top executives.

The two companies explored areas of cooperation as some of the biggest waste management entities to emerge in Africa.

The tour in Ghana is likely to soon birth meaningful collaboration in environmental sustainability.  Once concluded, the partnership will likely revolutionarise waste management on the continent.

Mr Nguwaya said: “In Zimbabwe, Geo Pomona has brought the first ever waste management solutions into the country and were handed over the site by the City of Harare when it was a filthy and unlivable place.

“However, at the moment it has become a beautiful place and we are excited to learn more from our counterparts in Ghana.”

After less than two years in operation, we have made a significant mark in waste management and promoting safe environments.

From the Ghana tour, we noted that Jospong uses the encapsulation system to treat waste – the same method we use in Pomona.

Our tour of Jospong Group took us to the company’s subsidiaries such as Zoomlion Transfer Point, Accra Compost Plant, Sewage Systems Ghana, and Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant.

Jospong Group of Companies founder, Dr Joseph Agyepong chipped in, saying: “Our group has several waste management operations under its wings and we have showcased these operations to Geo Pomona as we strive to establish areas of cooperation. Last month we had an opportunity to tour their operations in Zimbabwe and they have transformed one of Zimbabwe’s untreated dumpsites into a world-class facility.”

Even the Zimbabwean Ambassador to Ghana, Kufa Chinoza was happy about the collaboration between the two companies – Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd.

Chinoza said: “Geo Pomona and Jospong are starting a beautiful journey due to the wonderful relations between Zimbabwe and Ghana. Hence, we see this as a robust partnership that will transform the waste management landscape in both countries.”
