The Principal Secretary in the Lesotho Ministry of Finance Nthoateng Lebona has been impressed by our work at the Geo Pomona Waste Management site where massive transformation happened in a short space.
Speaking touring the site in Pomona on Tuesday afternoon, Lebona relished the opportunity to visit the waste-to-energy project.
Lebona was accompanied on her tour by our Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman Dr Dilesh Nguwaya.
She said changing dumpsite into an environmentally friendly facility was impressive, something the Lesotho Government would like to replicate.
Lebona said: “I was here last time in August (during the SADC Summit) but I didn’t get a chance to visit the Geo Pomona site. I thought I could see the developments which have happened here, the changes that have happened here; transforming the dumpsite into an environmentally friendly infrastructure.”
The Lesotho Finance Ministry Principal Secretary said she learnt how Geo Pomona Waste Management Private Limited was contributing towards the industrialisation agenda through the waste to energy.
Lebona added that her country’s population was growing, and there was need to implement a sustainable waste management system.
“I have come to learn how they reached this stage so that I can take these lessons home because we are facing a similar situation,” she said.
“As we industrialise and our population grows, we want to be able to manage waste better and get the benefit of energy production.”
