Scores of students from various learning institutions – from primary school, high school and university prospective engineers have visited our Pomona site in recent weeks, where the learners have expressed great passion about waste management.
The students were drawn from Harare, Mashonaland West and Mashonaland East, among others.
Some of the learners who took keen interest about sustainable waste management are Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Environmental Engineering students at Chinhoyi University of Technology in Mashonaland West province.
During their recent tour, the future Environmental Engineers proved beyond any reasonable doubt that they are eager to learn how we manage waste sustainably to protect our environment.
The students had a fruitful tour and discussion as they took time to ask pertinent questions about waste management.
In fact, It was an inspiring moment to see their passion for shaping a greener future.
Environmental issues impact everyone across Zimbabwe and students from Kwenda Mission High School in Chikomba, Mashonaland East travelled from Sadza Growth Point, to visit our site to learn about modern tech-driven waste management systems at our site.
The learners expressed much enthusiasm, and even printing their own t-shirts for the tour. How amazing it was to witness the young generation showing keen interest in environmental issues.
We took time to teach them about sustainable waste management practices so that we can protect the environment for posterity.

Recently, we also had the pleasure to host Grade 3 learners from Wise Owl Learning Centre Harare who demonstrated intellectual capacity to comprehend details about our landfills and sorting plant.
The pupils also learnt about the 4Rs of waste management; that is, Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. They could recite details about the 4Rs.
Reduce is a concept that focuses on reducing unnecessary or excessive consumption and production of goods. The goal is to reduce the amount of waste produced overall.
Recycling refers to the process of turning unused goods or materials into new materials for new products. This helps reduce waste and reduces the need for new natural resources.
Reuse speaks to the practice of reusing items to reduce the amount of waste generated. For instance, using a cloth shopping bag or refillable drinking water bottle
