A high-level delegation from the African Development Bank (AfBD) toured our waste management site in Pomona and they were greatly impressed by the massive project.
We are undertaking the first waste-to-energy project in Southern Africa, which has become the envy of many countries in the region where some have expressed keen interest to replicate.
The AfDB delegation of Senior Advisors visited our site on Wednesday, and were accompanied by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana and other Government officials.
Our Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr Dilesh Nguwaya welcomed the delegation and led them on a tour of the project.
The visitors were impressed by the project, which is the first of its kind in the region, breaking new ground in innovation and utilising modern technologies for environmental sustainability.
The AfDB officials are in Zimbabwe to assess recent economic developments, advance policy dialogue, and discuss prospects for Zimbabwe’s future engagement with the Bank.
In Zimbabwe, the AfDB supports in the energy sector, among others.
Apart from the AfDB delegation, there has been several high profile visitors to our site including SADC Heads of State and Government, SADC First Ladies, United Nations top officials, Cabinet Ministers and business executives.
They have all marvelled at the pace at which the waste-to-energy project is being implemented at our site where we also built recreational facilities which are benefitting the community.
Our project has in recent months emerged as one of the most progressive initiatives which turned trash to treasure, considering the significant transformation that has happened thusfar.
