Madagascan President Andry Rajoelina has invited our company to his country for a high-level meeting for a week to share expertise in the much coveted waste-to-energy projects.
The country is looking at replicating our innovative project which has transformed waste management systems in Zimbabwe.
His Excellency Rajoelina together with other Heads of State visited our site during the 44th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit which was held in August.
According to an invitation letter written by Madagascar’s Energy and Hydrocarbons Ministry, the country is seeking to get our expertise to manage their waste.
The Madagascan Government wrote that: “We are pleased to invite you to visit our waste-to-energy projects in Madagascar, which will take place between September 12 and 16, 2024. This meeting aims to introduce you first-hand to the initiatives we are implementing in this crucial area.
“Your expertise in waste management and your experience at Geo Pomona Waste Management (Pvt) Ltd would be a great value to enrich our discussions and consider future collaborations.”
Our visit to Madagascar came after the SADC Summit of Heads of State which saw His Excellency President Dr ED Mnangagwa assuming Chairmanship of the regional bloc.
We have been receiving positive feedback from numerous organisations and leaders including the United Nations for offering long-term solutions to waste management and energy generation problems in the region.
During the Sadc summit, President Rajoelina, King Mswati of Eswatini and Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi, SADC Executive Secretary H.E. Elias M. Magosi visited our site in Pomona. The leaders were accompanied by President Mnangagwa.
Our Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr Dilesh Nguwaya told the Heads of State during last month’s visit that the company was ready to partner other regional governments in providing sustainable waste management systems.
He said: “It is my hope that today’s tour will inspire other regional countries to replicate the Geo Pomona Waste Management model in all SADC states. In us, you have a partner, you have guaranteed expertise for the greener future. We have the capability to make this sustainable ecological transformative drive a trademark in the region.”
