The Joint Operations Command (JOC) has expressed confidence in our capacity to solve Harare’s waste management problems and maintain a clean environment.

JOC Harare chairman Brigadier-General Fidelis Mhonda said this during a tour of our facilities in Pomona on Tuesday.

He said JOC was prepared to work with our company to tackle waste management issues in the capital.

Brig-General Mhonda said: “As JOC Harare, this is our area of responsibility. We came here to witness this project, which is very important as it serves the whole of Harare. We need a clean Harare to avoid diseases.”

He indicated that we were properly equipped to deal with Harare’s waste management problems.

“Zimbabwe, as an agro-industrial economy, needs reliable electricity. Load-shedding affects industries and agriculture, but this facility will help bridge that gap, ensuring businesses operate smoothly,” said Brig-General Mhonda.

Our Executive Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Dr Dilesh Nguwaya gave an update about the works at the site.

Dr Nguwaya said the sorting plant was expected to be finished by the end of this month.

He noted: “We started installing the sorting plant on January 1. Mechanical and electrical engineers are finalizing the installation, and we expect it to be fully operational by the end of February.”

The JOC’s visit comes against a backdrop of several high-profile figures touring our site as we move to implement the first of its-kind waste management system in Southern Africa.
