The SADC Summit Projects delegation visited our project site recently where they expressed satisfaction and great impression of the work done in one of the best examples of good waste management in Zimbabwe and beyond.
Zimbabwe will host the 44th SADC Summit in August, and preparations are underway including various infrastructure development.
Last month, the SADC Executive Secretary His Excellency Elias Magosi toured our site where he stated that other regional countries should implement waste management projects.
On the recent tour, the Deputy Chief Secretary and National Coordinator for Flagship Programmes in the Office of the President and Cabinet Engineer Amos Marawa, and Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana toured the Geo Pomona Waste Management Private Limited site in Pomona.
During the SADC Summit in August, His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to lead other SADC Heads of State on tour of the site to get an appreciation of the Geo Pomona Waste Management operations. The tour is slated for 18 August.
President Mnangagwa did the ground-breaking ceremony of our site where he praised us for being innovative in waste management.
Engineer Marawa said, “We have toured Geo Pomona Waste Management, roads and hotels as we prepare for the SADC Summit. Everything will be ready in time for the SADC Summit on the 17th and 18th of August.”
