We had the honour of hosting a City of Harare delegation led by Councillor T. Utete, Chairperson of the Environment Management Committee, alongside Acting Town Clerk Advocate Warren Chiwawa and other committee members, for a tour of our waste management facility at Pomona.

The tour, led by our CEO and Executive Chairman, Dr Dilesh Nguwaya, gave the delegation first-hand insight into the remarkable transformation that has taken place since we assumed management of the Pomona dumpsite from the City of Harare in April 2022.

Once synonymous with uncontrolled fires, environmental pollution, poor access roads and unsafe working conditions, the site has been transformed into a modern waste management facility anchored on innovation, sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The delegation was taken through our operations and ongoing developments, including our long-term vision of converting waste into energy.

They also witnessed the significant infrastructure improvements implemented at the site, from organised waste handling systems and enhanced security to modern facilities that demonstrate our commitment to delivering world-class waste management solutions while creating a cleaner and healthier environment for the people of Harare.

We were delighted to conclude the visit by hosting the council officials at our state-of-the-art restaurant, The Sprout, where discussions continued over a hearty meal as we reaffirmed our shared commitment to building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable city.

From transforming a once-notorious dumpsite into a model environmental project, we remain committed to creating lasting value for present and future generations through innovative and sustainable waste management solutions.
