A high-powered FIFA and COSAFA delegation led by ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi toured Geo Pomona’s rapidly transforming sports and community facilities in a visit that highlighted one of Zimbabwe’s most remarkable urban renewal projects.
The delegation was taken through the state-of-the-art complex, which features a FIFA-certified football pitch, tennis courts and basketball facilities built within the Geo Pomona waste management site.

Officials were not only impressed by the world-class sporting infrastructure, but also by the company’s growing Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives aimed at empowering communities through sport.
Geo Pomona said the project is helping create hope, discipline and opportunity for young people while turning sport into a tool for community development.

What made the visit even more symbolic was the transformation behind the project itself.
Once known as a dumpsite, the area has now been reinvented into a modern sporting and community hub — a dramatic shift Geo Pomona described as moving from “trash to treasure” and from “garbage to glory.”
The visit by the FIFA and COSAFA delegation was widely viewed as a major endorsement of the vision driving the project and its increasing role in Zimbabwean sport and social development.

Geo Pomona thanked Magwizi and the visiting delegation for recognising the work being done at the facility.
