World Environment Day
On June 5th, we hosted the Regional World Environment Day commemorations under the theme “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.” With the First Lady,
Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, as our guest of honor, we reaffirmed our alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and our dedication to environmental stewardship.

SADC First Ladies Forum
In August, we hosted the SADC First Ladies Forum on Environment, which brought together influential voices under the theme “Mothers of Nations for Mother Nature.” The event highlighted the pivotal role women play in advocating for sustainable environmental practices.

SADC Heads Of State and Government
A historic milestone for us was hosting the SADC Heads of State and Government at our site on the 18th of August during the 44th Heads of State Summit. This visit opened up a plethora of opportunities, including invitations from Madagascar, Lesotho, and Botswana, all of which we proudly honoured.
The tour by the SADC leaders was a powerful reaffirmation that our work is being recognized—a truly humbling moment. Before we began operations in 2022, the Pomona dumpsite was in a deplorable state, shunned by many, and declared a national state of emergency. Yet, just two years later, it has transformed into a site capable of hosting such a high-profile event, firmly placing us on the regional map.

Looking Ahead to 2025
In the coming year, we will commence waste collection operations across Harare, addressing the pressing issues of uncollected waste and illegal dumpsites. Our goal is to restore Harare’s status as the “Sunshine City” by clearing high-traffic areas and prioritising efficient waste collection.
Additionally, we will continue advancing our Waste-to-Energy plant, a groundbreaking project that will convert waste into clean electricity for the national grid.
As we close the year, we remain committed to our mission of transforming waste management and creating a better tomorrow.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
