Geo Pomona Waste Management joined the City of Harare and Highview Clinic in a community clean-up campaign in Highfields, as part of ongoing efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the campaign, teams from Geo Pomona, local authorities and community members rolled up their sleeves to sweep streets, collect waste and restore public spaces in the suburb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative reflects a growing collaboration between stakeholders to encourage responsible waste management and community participation in maintaining clean neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clean-up drive is also aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa\u2019s national call for environmental stewardship, which encourages citizens, institutions and companies to take part in keeping communities clean and habitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond community campaigns, Geo Pomona has been playing a central role in transforming Harare\u2019s waste management system through its operations at the Pomona waste management facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project, established under a joint venture agreement between the City of Harare and Geo Pomona Waste Management, aims to modernise how the city handles solid waste and improve environmental sustainability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Pomona site, the company is developing a modern waste-to-energy facility that will convert municipal waste into electricity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once fully operational, the plant is expected to generate up to 16-22 megawatts of power, which will be fed into the national grid while simultaneously reducing the amount of waste dumped in landfills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geo Pomona is also supporting broader waste management initiatives across Harare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These include clearing illegal dumpsites that have accumulated across the city, improving waste collection systems and supporting structured refuse management in partnership with the municipality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company has been implementing a phased clean-up programme targeting illegal dumping hotspots, while working with partners to improve waste collection and restore cleanliness across residential areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through community clean-up campaigns such as the Highfields initiative, Geo Pomona says it aims to complement its large-scale waste management infrastructure by promoting grassroots environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Highfields clean-up campaign brought together residents, health workers and environmental teams in a collective effort to improve the suburb\u2019s surroundings \u2014 demonstrating how partnerships between communities, local authorities and private sector players can help build a cleaner and more sustainable Harare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
