At Geo Pomona Waste Management, we are intensifying our efforts to strengthen capacity, efficiency and sustainability in Zimbabwe\u2019s waste management systems by integrating global expertise, advanced technology and international best practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman, Dr Dilesh Nguwaya, said this year marks a renewed focus on learning, collaboration and delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This year we are significantly increasing the effort, energy and intensity we put into our work to improve capacity and efficiency in waste disposal. We are committed to learning from global leaders and adapting proven solutions to Zimbabwe\u2019s context,\u201d Dr Nguwaya said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zimbabwe\u2019s major urban centres continue to face long-standing waste management and sanitation challenges driven by decades of underinvestment, ageing infrastructure and constrained municipal resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our approach is centred on building modern, scalable systems that respond to these realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the past year, our leadership and technical teams conducted international study tours and engagements across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, including Belgium, France, Italy, China and the United Arab Emirates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Belgium, we visited Ecosteryl Environmental Solutions in Mons to study advanced medical waste treatment technologies and engaged municipal leaders on sustainable urban waste solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have also collaborated with Turkish engineering firm Disan on the installation of a large-scale sorting plant in Harare, while our engineers are currently conducting a feasibility study in Lesotho to replicate our waste management model in Maseru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond operational learning, our leadership has participated in major global climate and waste management forums to align our work with international environmental and waste-to-energy standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Our focus is on strengthening our technical and operational capabilities to deliver higher efficiency, increased capacity and long-term sustainability \u2014 not only in Harare, but across Zimbabwe and the region,\u201d Dr Nguwaya said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of this strategy, we are progressing towards the completion of our Waste-to-Energy plant, which is expected to generate up to 22 megawatts (MW) of electricity for the national grid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This work underpins our commitment to delivering modern, efficient and sustainable waste management solutions that support Zimbabwe\u2019s environmental and energy goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
