Our Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman Dr Dilesh Nguwaya says the company is aligning operations to attain an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification for the waste-to-energy facility in Pomona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Nguwaya, who spoke during a tour of the facility by the Bulawayo City Council officials on Thursday, said processes were underway to meet ISO requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said: \u201cWe are in the first stage, and they are coming here to make sure that every department is complying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter that, we will follow all the processes that people from ISO want from Geo Pomona so that we meet their standards to make sure that we get the ISO certificate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISO certification is globally recognised as a benchmark of quality, and safety. It ensures that a company\u2019s management systems, products and services meet international standards, enhancing both credibility and operational performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We already achieved FIFA certification for our football pitch and this new initiative underscores our commitment to international compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City of Bulawayo who toured our facility is considering a partnership with us to replicate a waste management facility in their city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The council officials were greatly impressed by the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bulawayo has been grappling with waste challenges and is seeking waste management solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are very impressed by the model that we have seen here at Geo Pomona and would be looking at setting up a similar plant in Bulawayo,\u201d said Bulawayo\u2019s deputy mayor, Councillor Edwin Ndlovu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is one of the key points that we focused on at the Investment Conference that we had in Harare.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Nguwaya added: \u201cI am glad that Bulawayo City Council is impressed and wants to replicate this initiative in their municipality. It is something that we have proposed to them and now we await their response.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
