{"id":3098,"date":"2025-01-24T15:54:13","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T13:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geopomona.co.zw\/?p=3098"},"modified":"2025-01-24T15:54:13","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T13:54:13","slug":"preparations-for-harare-waste-collection-gain-momentum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/geopomona.co.zw\/?p=3098","title":{"rendered":"Preparations for Harare waste collection gain momentum"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We have earnestly began the process to implement the Harare waste collection project with an inspection of council facilities to assess the state of garages and parking spaces for refuse trucks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This fact-finding tour was led by our Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Dilesh Nguwaya together with top council officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/geopomona.co.zw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/474790058_122238227396067261_6587061619487952790_n-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3100\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The tour comes after we signed a waste collection agreement with the City of Harare and the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harare has for long been battling with uncollected garbage, resulting in the Government to step in by engaging private players to address the long-standing problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Thursday, we visited City of Harare garages to explore ways to boost waste collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the tour of council premises, we noted that many facilities need upgrades although they have potential for parking, servicing and fuelling refuse trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/geopomona.co.zw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/474759488_122238227120067261_9068832918701274753_n-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3101\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It is exciting that we have been entrusted with waste collection in Harare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new trucks and equipment for the waste collection is expected to be delivered soon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Nguwaya, in a recent interview, said the equipment was expected to arrive arrive in Zimbabwe by the end of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cWe are fully prepared for this responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe necessary equipment has been procured, and by the end of February, all equipment is expected to arrive.
