….’Madagascar ready to replicate the waste to energy project’<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr Dilesh Nguwaya this Monday morning met Madagascan President His Excellency Andry Rajoleina at the Ambohitsirohitra Palace in Antananarivo where the Island nation’s leader said his Government was ready to work closely with Geo Pomona Waste Management in the innovative waste to energy project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Nguwaya appraised President Rajoelina on his delegation\u2019s historic tour of Madagascar on a waste management and energy generation fact-finding mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Rajoelina said: “I need to thank His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa for sending his team here on a fact finding mission. I am grateful that Zimbabwe and Madagascar are now on a new path of diplomatic ties which will benefit the two countries on the political and economic front.  I was impressed by what I saw when I came for the SADC Summit. I witnessed that a dirty and hazardous place can be transformed within a very short space of time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have similar challenges here in Antananarivo and this marks a significant step to collaborate in many different economic areas besides energy generation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Nguwaya said the tour of the Island nation was a success, and Madagascar was keen on replicating the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said a delegation from Antananarivo was expected to visit our site to further explore ways of collaborating in waste management and power generation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had a successful tour here and managed to benchmark what we are doing as a company in waste management and energy generation which Madagascar is keen to replicate.  In our talks, the President promised to send a team to Zimbabwe to create a working relationship that can see us doing the same here in Madagascar,\u201d said Dr Nguwaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is essential that private companies are also part of the engagement and reengagement agenda as testified by this visit, which has opened new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour which started last week Thursday saw the delegation meeting Government Ministers of Energy and Hydrocarbons; Environment and Sustainable Development; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene; and Foreign Affairs. Our team presented the Geo Pomona waste to energy project in Pomona to the Madagascan Government officials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit follows President Rajoleina’s attendance of the 44th SADC Summit in Harare where he visited our site in August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
