We are participating for the first time at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo to educate the nation about proper waste management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 64th<\/sup> ZITF edition started on Tuesday and will be officially opened by Kenyan President Dr William Ruto on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The premier trade showcase is being held under the theme: \u201cInnovation: The Catalyst for Industrialisation and Trade\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd, we are having our inaugural exhibition with a focus on raising awareness about the innovative ways we use to manage waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are also educating those coming through our Stand 4L07, Hall 4 about the 4Rs, that is, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTurning Trash into Treasure,\u201d is our theme at the ZITF this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes after we have tremendously transformed the once-smelly Pomona dumpsite into a modern waste management facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After many years of poor solid waste management by the local authority, we have introduced the first-of-its-kind way of processing waste to energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our plant will produce 22 megawatts of electricity upon completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, as part of transforming the dumpsite in Harare, we have constructed state-of-the-art sports facilities, including a FIFA-certified soccer field, and basketball and tennis courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modern restaurants will also be opened at the Geo Pomona site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All these facilities will be accessible to the public as our generous way of giving back towards community development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the ongoing ZITF has provided a launchpad for innovative businesses such as Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 624 exhibitors this year, an increase from 565 while foreign countries showcasing jumped from 21 last year to 26 this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
